How to generate and review automatic video captions

Good captions start with understandable speech

Automatic captions turn speech into text, but still need review. Loud music, overlapping voices and proper names make transcription difficult. Listen to a representative part of the recording before starting. Speech recognition cannot guarantee an accurate word when background audio obscures it.

Generate captions and follow progress

Open your video’s edit and use the Captions area. Check the spoken language, available engine and progress feedback. CPU and GPU describe where processing runs, not how well the text has been edited. Availability depends on your browser and computer.

1. Prepare the timeline and confirm the intended audio is present.
2. Choose the spoken language or automatic detection.
3. Start transcription and wait for completion feedback.
4. If GPU processing fails, try CPU or the alternative offered by the interface.

Review wording and display timing

Play the video while reading its captions. Correct names, numbers and expressions that change the meaning of the speech. Check that text appears with the speaker and ends before the next idea. After removing silence or rearranging excerpts, review cut boundaries again to confirm synchronization.

Choose a style that fits the frame

Set the final aspect ratio before adjusting fonts and size. For 9:16, keep text readable without covering faces or important information. Use contrast against the background and leave room for social platform controls. Animation and highlighted words can support reading, but every word does not need an effect.

Check the exported file
